1. Ask your child to fix her school bag the day before school starts.
Having your child go through her school stuff will remind her of school and the fun things she does there. If your child is anxious about schoolwork, guide her to plan her assignments and let her know that you are confident she will be able to rise up to the challenge. An additional fun activity would be to give her an extra nice pen to start off the year.
2. Visualise a good school day with her, the night before school starts.
A little mental preparation can go a long way. Before tucking them into bed, take a few minutes with your child to visualise a happy first day of school. This will put her in a good mindset and lets her subconscious work on these positive thoughts, priming her for a great first day of school.
Saying a few words of gratitude and asking for guidance is always the best way to end the day, and to start any new activity.
