It’s okay, I know you binged on The Crown. I did too.
And now that the high you got from being drunk on the lives of the Windsor’s (sorry Prince Philip) is dissipating, you want another hit.
How about going to TWG? This is one restaurant where you feel like you are entering another era. I almost curtsied before going in. Almost.
When choosing a restaurant when I eat alone, I also think about the ambiance of the place. This is when I do a lot of thinking, mind wandering, and take the time re-center.
TWG has ambiance down pat. Old world charm is the best way to describe it. It reminds you of period movies when people used to dress up to ride planes.
As you enter, you hear the imperceptible Christmas jazz music playing, and the soft voices of the people dining. Then you look down and notice the wood-marble combination of the floor.
You follow the server and look around the restaurant, you see people feeling quite pleased with themselves and feeling fancy as they “play tea”.
You are lead to your table and where the server helps you to your seat, and gets the napkin from the table, folds it in a triangular shape, carefully pauses to make sure you are ready before she puts the same on your lap.
Upon seating, you immediately notice that the restaurant uses real table cloth. The chairs have a soft cushion, unlike the plastic and wooden chairs so popular in restaurants nowadays. Even the elbow rests are cushioned! Take a look:
You then order and smile politely, like royalty. But of course. You are so ready to play tea.
You start with the golden tea pot, I’ll tell you what’s in it at the end of the post.
followed by the breaded boiled egg on a salad:
And lastly the 3-spear asparagus pasta.
That’s it! And if you think that dining like royalty will cost you a gold bar, TWG’s prices are pretty reasonable, for a movie set – like , out-of-the-ordinary experience.
Salad: Aviator Salad – P455.00
Pasta: Scallops Linguini – P525.00
Warm bread with butter – free
What was inside the golden pot: Hot Water with Lemon – free (such travesty I know, but I was budgeting my money)
Where do you go to escape?
